Voodoos add forward from the GTA

“I will be able to lean on him defensively but in contrast I know I he will be able to contribute offensively 5 on 5.”

The Powassan Voodoos have added more talent from the Greater Toronto Hockey League by inking forward Harrison Israels, who played for the Mississauga Senators Major Midget AAA’s last season.

The 6’1”, 180 pound forward netted 16 goals along with 12 assists totaling 28 points in 31 GTHL regular season games last season.

Israels got his first chance to impress in Voodoos green two weeks ago when he played for the Voodoos prospects team in the TEP Prospects tournament which took place in Toronto.

“He’s strong in all three zones, he’s consistent and you know what you are going to get shift in shift out with a player like Harrison,” stated new Voodoos head coach Beau Moyer who had his first opportunity to coach Israels at the prospect event.

“I will be able to lean on him defensively but in contrast I know I he will be able to contribute offensively 5 on 5.”

Israels attended the Voodoos Spring Prospects Camp in Powassan while the Voodoos were still competing in the NOJHL Finals.

"When I attended the rookie camp in April and was able to see first hand, the atmosphere and great fan support for the Voodoos, I was immediately impressed,” stated the 1999 birth year Mississauga product.

“The management and coaching staff have been very welcoming and it is easy to see why Powassan has developed such a winning culture and attitude. I look forward to moving up to Powassan and contributing to the success of the Voodoos in the coming season.”

Israels will join some current Voodoos and prospects this weekend at the NOJHL champions final summer camp in Barrie.
