The Powassan Voodoos continued to bolster their back end with the addition of 2002 birth year defenceman Sean Thies, the Voodoos announced on Monday.

The 6’0”, 209 pound right-hand shot defender joins the Voodoos from Governor’s Academy US high school hockey in 2021-22 where he netted 4 assists in 29 games.

“After talking with coach Marc Lafleur and the rest of the staff I am very anxious and excited to get to Powassan and start the season,” stated Thies.

“I look forward to contributing to such a strong organization and being a part of a great community.”

Chris Dawson, Voodoos GM, credits Lafleur for bringing Thies on board.

“We had a young squad last year so bringing Thies’ size and experience to the blue line will be key,” said Dawson.

“He is a big mobile defender and we are excited to have him join the program.”

The Voodoos will be back on the ice for a prospects camp on July 9 at Pete Palangio arena.
