The Powassan Voodoos bolstered their offence with the acquisition of forward Gregory Trudeau-Paquet from the Kirkland Lake Gold Miners for a development fee, the club announced Sunday.

Trudeau-Paquet, a two-time NOJHL All-Star, had 27 goals and 26 assists totaling 53 points in 41 games last season with the Gold Miners.

"I'm definitely excited and can't wait to get things going in August, wouldn't want to spend my last junior season anywhere else,” said Trudeau-Paquet, who has 69 career NOJHL goals.

“We are going to have something special going on. Really looking forward to meeting the guys and to get things going."

Voodoos president Jim Bruce, head coach Max Gain and general manager Chris Dawson met with Trudeau-Paquet in Sudbury on Friday night.

Dawson was thrilled to find out Trudeau-Paquet had the Voodoos high on his radar for his final season of junior ‘A’ hockey.

“It is always great when a star player is excited about joining our program,” said Dawson.

“Gregory had been on our radar for a while and when he became available we made it a priority to get a deal done.  He has been an elite player since he debuted with French River back in 2016.”

Voodoos head coach Max Gavin, returning behind the bench for his second season with the Green and Gold, is excited about the addition of Trudeau-Paquet.

“He has the ability to change a game on his own, and after meeting him it’s clear he wants to win and be in a situation to succeed,” said Gavin.

“This is a big addition for our hockey team, and I am looking forward to seeing him score a lot of goals for us this year.”

The Voodoos also announced they have traded forward Tomas Yachmenev to the Navan Grads of the CCHL for a development fee.
