Vision U16 Girls Capture Bronze at in Welland

The U16 Vision Girls’ Volleyball Team captured the bronze medal at the U17 McGregor Cup hosted by Niagara College in Welland, Ontario over the weekend.


The U16 Vision Girls’ Volleyball Team captured the bronze medal at the U17 McGregor Cup hosted by Niagara College in Welland, Ontario over the weekend.

Seeded 9th, the team playing in their first higher age calibre tournament, won their pool based on a point differential.

In their quarter-final match the Vision squad defeated E891 in straight sets.

Their opponent in the semi's was the Mountain Volleyball Club’s U16 team from Hamilton which are one of the top U16 teams in the premier division of the Ontario Volleyball Association and defending silver medallists from last year’s provincial championships.

The two teams had split their previous two matches last year.

In the semi-finals, both teams split their first two sets before MVC defeated the Vision team 15- 11 in the 3rd.

MVC, which was seeded 8th, went on to capture the gold at Niagara College.

Vision rebounded by capturing the bronze medal defeating the Georgian Cubs in straight sets 25-15 and 25-19.

Next weekend the Vision team is seeded #1 at the Bugarski Cup in Peterborough.

Team members include Annagh Macie, Kristen Zamperoni, Kate Bowness, Danyka Wall, Julia Allard, Courtney Pappano, Alex Stockfish, Tabitha Tremblay, Kristen Moore, and Chelsea Cadieux. The team is coached by Dr. Karen Morris, Len Pappano and John Jeffries.
