A big crop of the North Bay U18 AAA Trappers will be heading west to wear the jersey of the French River Rapids of the Northern Ontario Junior 'A' Hockey League (NOJHL).

A total of six players from the U18 Trappers have signed in French River including forwards Cameron MacDonald, Alexandre Dubuc, Nolan Masson, Carson Laronde along with defencemen Ryley Wolfe and Jacob Payeur.

Payeur was also invited to attend the North Bay Battalion orientation camp back in the spring.

Doug Sanders, the U18 AAA head coach last season, is glad to see his players taking the next step.

"As coaches, we are pleased with their development and proud of them as hockey players and young men," said Sanders, who will once again be the U18 AAA Trappers head coach in 2022-23.

"We wish them all the best as they move forward in their careers."

Meantime, Kaleb Papineau, who played for the U16 AAA Trappers and was selected in the 12th round of the OHL Priority Selection by the Saginaw Spirit, is also heading to the Rapids.

That group of players joins former Trappers Kaedyn Long, Will Bourre, Thomas Sefton, Zachary Major, and Mathieu Savignac who signed in the NOJHL this off-season with the Powassan Voodoos.
