The North Bay Lakers U16 boys earned a split during a Sunday doubleheader against Barrie SC U16 at Coca-Cola Field at the Steve Omischl Sports Complex.
Matthew Ferriera opened the scoring in game one with a great individual effort in the first half. However, Barrie countered with two unanswered goals for a 2-1 Barrie win in the noon contest.
In the second game, the Lakers came out strong scoring first on a goal by Nate Sinclair on a great effort set up by Ferriera for the 1-0 first half lead.
In the second half Caleb Dawson finished off a nice effort getting awarded a goal off a nice deflection from a Gavin Thibodeau cross which made it 2-0 Lakers.
Lakers Keeper Declan Allison then shut the door including a key stop on a late second-half breakaway to secure the 2-0 victory.
The Lakers, who play in the Huronia District Soccer League, now sport a 2-2 record.
They travel to Huntsville to take on the Strikers this Thursday night.
