Matthew Ferriera scored a late second half goal to allow the Nipissing District Soccer Club U16 Lakers boys to salvage a 2-2 tie with the Huntsville Strikers in Huronia District Soccer League play Sunday night in Huntsville.

The Ferriera response came after the Strikers cashed in on a second-half corner kick that deflected off a Lakers defender and past goalkeeper Declan Allison.

However, Allison was solid in goal for the Lakers stopping a first-half penalty kick and making numerous saves throughout the contest.

Holden Tuckett got the Lakers on the board putting home his own rebound on a great individual effort in the first half which tied the game 1-1.

The tie gives the Lakers a 3-2-1 record on the season.

The Lakers next game is Thursday, September 9 when they host the Strikers at the Steve Omischl Sports Complex in North Bay.
