The North Bay Ice Boltz U11B team travelled to Whitby this past weekend to take part in the Whitby Tournament of Heroes.
In round-robin play the Ice Boltz finished with a 2-1-0 record to finish 2nd overall in pool play. On Friday the Ice Boltz beat the Georgina Golden Hawks 5-0, and lost 3-2 to the Kanata Rangers.
On Saturday the team faced the North Durham Blades where they came out with a 5-2 win helping them advance to the semi-finals on Sunday morning where they again faced North Durham.
In the semi-finals, the Ice Boltz were once again victorious helping them to advance to the championship game.
The championship game saw back-and-forth action as the Ice Boltz took an early 1-0 lead less than 4 minutes into the game.
Kanata tied the game with one second remaining in the first period. Kanata would add a second goal early in the second period, which would stand as the game- winner.
Congratulations to the U11B Ice Boltz on a strong showing in Whitby to bring home a silver medal.
