Two North Bay Titans were in Sudbury this past weekend (Oct. 26-27) for an event that was all about showcasing the next level of swimming, the university level.

Jenna Wall (15) and Ayden Michaud (16) were selected for the regional training camp and competition at Laurentian University based on their results from last season.

They trained with 31 other swimmers from across northeastern Ontario, worked with other regional coaches, then participated in a University competition and represented their region.

“This was a great way to kick off the season and get kids interested in university swimming,” says Titans Coach John McLeod.  “Our Titans are only four hours drive from four university swimming programs.”

Considering it is early in the season, the regional team raced incredibly well and actually beat Laurentian and the University of Waterloo.

Wall produced three top 8 performances to help score 44 points for the NEOR (Northeast Region) team while Michaud had a 4th place finish in 800m freestyle.

“Swimmers are adapting very well to me as their new coach, and their training, and are focused on a long-term result,” added McLeod, who became the Titans head coach in August. “With this being an Olympic year we'll see a lot of fast, intense racing this season. This was a great kick-off.”

The Titans are back in Sudbury this weekend (Nov. 2-3) for the first NEOR development swim meet of the season.
