Two more Wild players named player of the week

Two more Nipissing Wild defenders have been honoured as OFC Defensive Player of the Week. Linebacker Jordan Beaudoin was acknowledged for his efforts the team’s week 3 victory over the Toronto Jr.
Two more Nipissing Wild defenders have been honoured as OFC Defensive Player of the Week.

Linebacker Jordan Beaudoin was acknowledged for his efforts the team’s week 3 victory over the Toronto Jr. Argonauts, while defensive back Jordy Matheson won the award for week 5.

During his award winning game Beaudoin had 3 tackles, 3 assists, 2 QB sacks and an interception for a total of 21 defensive points. Matheson scored an amazing 29 total defensive points again Huronia with 10 tackles, 5 assists and an interception.

After 5 weeks of play the Wild have 4 players in the top 8 in defensive points.

Matheson leads the team with 79 points, good for third in the league. He is followed by defensive back Colin Anger and Beaudoin in 4th and 5th place respectively. Zach Wilkinson is 8th in the league with 64 points despite missing one game.

On the other side of the ball running back Jordan Sutcliffe sits in a respectable 6th place in league rushing. Sutcliffe has a 6.1 yard/carry average and 4 touchdowns on the season.

This week, the Wild (1-4) will host their final home game of the regular season against the Sudbury Gladiators (5-0). The teams met in week one of the season with the veteran Gladiators winning 31-7 in Sudbury. Game time for this weekend’s game in 2pm at Rollie Fischer Field on Saturday.
