The West Ferris Trojans senior Basketball team defeated the Chippewa Raiders on their home turf Tuesday evening 48-38.

The Trojans shut down the Raiders offence in the first half, as the Raiders could only muster 7 points at the half.

The Raiders started to score in the Second Half but the Trojans built up a 20 point lead in the 4th quarter and went on to win by 10.

John Gore led the Trojans in scoring with 17 points with Andrew McIntosh close behind with 14 of his own.

In this low scoring affair Trojans Head Coach Larry Tougas was pleased the way his team played without the ball.

“Defensively we did a great job on them and they couldn’t knock down any outside shots,” Tougas said noting the Raiders lack of scoring in the first half.

While the win clinches first place for the Trojans, Tougas isn't sure that Tuesday nights game is a good game to gauge the top two NDA clubs, since both teams are coming off weekend tournaments and a hard fought overtime contest which the Trojans won last Thursday 71-69.

"They are a better team than that, tonight wasn’t a good indicator,” Tougas believes.

The two teams will find out soon enough as the NDA Senior Boy's playoffs begin this Thursday.
