The North Bay & District Midget AAA Trappers battled back from a 2-1 second period deficit to defeat the visiting New Liskeard Cubs 5-2 in game one of the best-of-three Great North Midget League quarter-final.

Braeden Villeneuve led the Trappers attack with three goals.

Jacob Delisle and Robert Buckley had the other goals for the Trappers.

Cade Herd and Calvin Chartrand replied for the Cubs, who had a 10 game losing streak coming into Friday’s playoff opener.

The Trappers line of Delisle, Villeneuve and minor midget Dylan D’Agostino combined for nine points in the game 1 win.

Brendan Dale was solid in goal for the Trappers as he was credited with the win.

The Trappers will look to eliminate the visiting Cubs on Saturay night when the two teams meet again at West Ferris arena.

Puck drop is set for  7:20 p.m. Saturday night.
