Major Peewee

The Savignac General Woodwork Major Peewee AAA's hosted the Nickel City Sons for a three-game set this past weekend.  Special teams proved to be the difference as 7 of 11 Trappers goals scored were on the power play (6) or shorthanded (1).  In the first game played on Saturday, the Trapper's relentless forecheck coupled with exceptional team play proved to be the difference as the Trappers beat the visiting Sons by a score of 4-2.  An opening power-play goal by Kasen Paquette (unassisted) and an even-strength goal by Aiden Lucier, assisted by Justin Turgeon would see the Trappers leading the first period  2-1.

The teams would exchange goals in the second period with Kaedyn Long scoring his first of 2 on the power play with assists going to Nolan Masson and Thom Sefton.  Long would provide the Trappers some cushion with his second power-play goal of the game in the third period with assists going to Justin Turgeon and Kasen Paquette.

In the first of 2 games played on Sunday, the Trappers continued their winning ways battling their way to a 3-2 win.  The teams exchanged goals in the first with Carson Laronde scoring off a faceoff win from Kaedyn Long.

The Trappers found themselves fighting an uphill battle going into the third period trailing 2-1 after giving up a second-period goal.  Long showcased his skill on the power play taking a Nolan Masson feed and beating the goalie in tight short side "bunk" with an additional assist going to the strong skating Thom Sefton.

The Trappers would complete the third period come back with a rocket of a shot coming off the stick of Justin Turgeon, again on the power play with assists going to Long and Sefton.

In the third and final game of the weekend played at Memorial Gardens, the teams would see themselves tied 1-1 after the first period with a shorthanded goal from Kaedyn Long after a fantastic forecheck and feed by Masson.

The second period would see no goals scored.  The third period would prove to be a dandy as each of the teams would score 3 each with the last goal being a heartbreaker with 1:32 left the Trappers gave up a short-handed goal allowing the Sons to leave town with a point sealing a 4-4 tie. Long would score his second of the game from Turgeon and Aiden Lucier added 2 of his own in the third both assisted by Riley Wolfe in the tie.

The Trappers extend their regular season unbeaten streak to 6 games with a 5-0-1 record in their last six.  The Trappers see action again in Hamilton at the end of the month.
