Trappers Roundup

Major Bantam to Minor Peewee Trappers action on the weekend

Major Peewee

The North Bay Savignac Major Peewee AAA Trappers played their first home games of the regular season this past weekend shared between Verner and Sturgeon Falls.  In the first of 2 games played on Saturday, game one saw the hard-working Trappers outshoot their opponent but skate to a 1-1 tie.  Game 2 proved to be a spirited contest with the Trappers scoring 3 first period goals moving into the second period leading 3-0.  Unfortunately, that would not be enough as the visiting Wolves would score 4 times in the second and the Trappers adding one ending the second in a 4 all tie heading into the third period.  The Wolves would eventually complete the comeback and beat the Trappers 5-4.

The third and final game of the weekend played on Sunday would see the Trapper team get behind early as they spotted the visitors a goal in both the first and second period with the third period to play.  Down 2-0 in the third, the Trappers team fought hard and kept the pressure on to finally score with just over a minute to play.  With the goalie pulled the Trappers had a number of chances to tie the game but fell short suffering another tough loss 2-1.

The coaching staff is incredibly proud of the effort and work ethic of the players.  The next set of games see the Trapper travel to Timmins for a 3 game set Oct. 14-15.

Minor Peewee

The North Bay "Nipissing Reader" Minor Peewee AAA Trappers wrapped up a very successful weekend by winning three straight games over the Minor Peewee AAA Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds at Pete Palangio arena on Saturday and Sunday.

The Trappers battled a motivated Greyhounds team Sunday morning that did not want to go home without a win.  The Trappers opened up a 3-1 lead only to see the Hounds close the gap and even the score 3-3 in the third period.  However, the Trappers got a late power play goal to seal the third victory of the weekend for the Trappers team which now sits at 5-0-1 on the season.  Nate Gravelle, Nolan Newton, Tyler Moore, and Caleb Dawson had the goals for the minor peewees.

Major Bantam

The North Bay Dig Safe Major Bantam AAA Trappers hosted their rivals from Nickel City for two games this past weekend.
