Trappers gain weekend split (new)

Two games don’t make a season, but the North Bay Trappers are way ahead of last year’s pace in the Great North Midget League. The Trappers opened the season in Sault Ste. Marie on the weekend and came away with a split.

The Trappers opened the season in Sault Ste. Marie on the weekend and came away with a split.
They lost 5-2 Saturday night, but took a 4-3 decision in overtime Sunday afternoon.
Lance McMahon scored the winner with 3:43 left in the overtime period. It was his second goal of the game.
Kody Carnevale and Philippe Bouffard had the other goals.
Carnevale and Marc Senecal had two assists each.
Nick Minardi, Trevor McNutt and Tyler Gendron replied for the North Stars.
Mathieu Aube was in goal for the Trappers. No shot totals were available.
The clubs were tied 2-2 after two periods.
McMahon and Kyle Willard had the goals for the Trappers Saturday, both in the third period..
Brad DiCandia had two for the North Stars with Mike Quesnelle, Mcnutt and Paul Dupont adding one apiece.
Andre Laperriere handled the netminding duties for North Bay. Again no shot totals were kept.
The Trappers home opener is Saturday at the West Ferris Arena against the Sudbury Lockerby Confectionery Nickel Capitals. Game time is 7:20 p.m.
The Trappers host Valley East Consbec Cobras Sunday at the WFA, starting at 1:20 p.m.
