Trappers capture silver in Preston

The Trappers made it to the finals but fell 5-2 to the South Point Rink Rats.

The North Bay/West Ferris Canadore College Major Atom AA Trappers came home with silver medals after a solid effort at the Preston International Hockey Tournament. 

The Trappers made it to the finals but fell 5-2 to the South Point Rink Rats.  Marshall McCharles and Nate Gravelle had the goals in the final.  

The Trappers opened the tourney with a 1-0 setback at the hands of the Toronto Wolverines on Friday afternoon.   The Trappers then responded with a 4-1 win on Friday evening against the Goulding Park Rangers.  

On Saturday afternoon the Trappers continued their winning ways with a convincing 6-2 win over the Pickering Panthers which sent the Trappers onto the playoff round on Sunday morning. 

In the semi-finals, the Trappers edged Oshawa 1-0 to punch their ticket to the final. 

It’s the second tournament final for the Trappers who captured gold back in November in Ottawa at the Capital Fall Classic. 

Team members include: Justin Robinson, Patrick Danis, Johnny Couch, Caleb Dawson, Davis Anello, Noah St-Jean, Ethan Desjardins, Nate Gravelle, Cayden Kowal, Zachary Major, Marshall McCharles, Jesse Lefebvre, Ayden Thomason, Nolan Newton, Mathieu Turgeon, Tyler Moore, and Masen Wray.   Coaches include John Couch, Glen Gravelle, Troy Lefebvre along with Trainer Remi St-Jean, Manager Denis Major, Treasurer Shelley Newton, Fundraising coordinator Carmen Anello and Team Webmaster Sheila Toner.
