The North Bay & District Midget AAA Trappers could not build off their late game heroics on Friday night in Kapuskasing as they were dumped 5-0 by the feisty Flyers who staved off elimination in the Great North Midget League semi-final.

The Flyers home win will force a fifth and deciding game Monday night in North Bay.

The Trappers won 2-1 on Friday night to take a 2-1 series lead.  Trappers head coach Guy Blanchard isn't too surprised the series is going the distance but he expects more from his players in the deciding game.

"We're both evenly matched teams," said Blanchard.

"We need to have our veterans step up and play like veterans and take the lead. It will be the team that wants to play the grittiest and pay the price to win who is going to win [this series]."

Jacob Comeau gave the Flyers a 1-0 lead after 20 minutes of play.

The homeside added to the lead in the second as Mathieu Parent and Samuel Bourdages scored to give the Flyers a 3-0 lead after two periods of play.

Sebastien Despatie and Jesse Casonato scored third period goals about three minutes apart in the third which chased Trappers starter Joel Rainville in favour of Drew Joyal who played the final 11 minutes of the third.

With the series now tied 2-2, the fifth and deciding game will take place on Monday, February 27th at Memorial Gardens.  Puck drop is set for 7:30 p.m.
