Trappers AAA Roundup - Tough weekend for the Trappers

Minor Peewee Trappers swept by Hounds and Minor Bantams come home with a tie at Wendy Dufton Memorial Tournament

The North Bay Hopper Buick/GMC Minor Bantam AAA Trappers came home with a 0-3-1 record at the Wendy Dufton Memorial Tournament which took place on the weekend in London.  

The Trappers opened up the tourney Friday with a tight 1-1 tie against the Quinte Red Devils.  Grayson Bradley had the lone goal and goaltender Justin Robinson made some key saves in the tie.  

On Friday afternoon, the Trappers were humbled 7-0 at the hands of the Grey-Bruce Highlanders.   

Saturday afternoon, the Trappers were looking for their first win against the nationally-ranked Chicago Fury.  The Trappers battled hard but fell 2-1 to the U.S. squad.  Caleb Dawson had the lone goal in the setback. 

Saturday night, the Trappers built up a 2-0 lead against the London Jr. Knights but ended up falling 5-3 which officially eliminated the Trappers from making Sunday's playoff round.  Nate Gravelle, Mathieu Turgeon and Anthony Boyes scored in the loss.  

The Trappers are back in action this weekend in Powassan as they host a pair of games at the Powassan Sportsplex.  

Minor Peewees host the Hounds 

The Minor Peewee AAA Trappers faced off against the Soo Greyhounds this weekend in North Bay. 

In the opening game, Ethan Roy had the lone Trappers goal in a 6-1 setback to the Greyhounds.  

In the second contest, Michael Dech opened the scoring for the Trappers but the Hounds scored the next 8 for an 8-1 Greyhounds win. 

Game three had the Trappers flying out of the gate in the first period, keeping the Soo at a 1-0 lead. Late in the game, the Soo took advantage of Trappers penalty trouble resulting in a 6-0 loss, despite Carson Ruddy’s athletic presence between the pipes.
