It was a good weekend for both the Minor Bantam and Major Peewee AAA Trappers as the teams combined for four wins and a tie.

Minor Bantam

The North Bay Assante-Thomson Financial Partners Minor Bantams played host for 2 games versus the visiting Soo Greyhounds, winning one and finishing in a tie in the other.

In game one, the Trappers defeated the Hounds 5-2. Game one saw the Greyhounds leading at the end of the first period. The Trappers would take the lead with goals from Aiden Lucier and Chase Thompson with one lone assist going to Justin Turgeon on the Thompson goal.  The resilient Soo squad would tie the game and it would remain tied through 2 periods. The Soo team would take the lead early in the penalty filled third, however the Trapper team would eventually tie it up off the stick of Turgeon and later would seal the win with goals from Thompson (2) and Cooper Brazeau.

In game two the hometown team would take an early lead with a goal from Thom Sefton with helpers going to Caleb Shank and Royce Rochefort.  Heading into the second with the lead, some sloppy play by the Trappers helped the Soo take a lead 2-1 as the teams headed into the third period.  A Tristan Perry goal midway through the period locked the teams at 2-2 which would be the final result.

The Trappers head to the Soo this weekend for a pair of games before heading to Sudbury to close out the first half of the season.

Major Peewee

It was a clean sweep for the North Bay Hopper Buick/GMC Major Peewee AAA Trappers this past weekend as they won three straight NOHL AAA contests against the visiting Timmins North Stars.

On Saturday afternoon, the Trappers battled through for a 3-2 win over the North Stars.  Zach Major, Mathieu Turgeon and Caleb Dawson had the goals in the win in Verner.

On Saturday evening, the Trappers fell behind 5-3 in the third period but battled back with three unanswered goals late in the third period to take it 6-5 in Verner.

Nate Gravelle led the offence with two goals including the game winner late in the final stanza.  Noah St. Jean, Jesse Lefebvre, and Turgeon had the other goals in the comeback win.

On Sunday morning the Trappers carried that comeback momentum with them to Sturgeon Falls to finish off the weekend series as they dominated the North Stars in a 10-2 victory.

Zach Major, Grayden Robertson-Palmer, and Jesse Lefebvre led the offensive onslaught with two goals each.   Singles went to Davis Anello, Nate Gravelle, Mathieu Turgeon and Caleb Dawson.

Michael Purkhardt got all three victories in goal for the Trappers.

The Trappers are back in action in Greater Sudbury this weekend in a battle for top spot as they take on the Nickel City Sons for three games in Chelmsford.
