Trappers AAA Roundup - Big win for Minor Peewees

Major Bantam 

The North Bay & District Major Bantam AAA Trappers had a tie and a loss over the weekend in two contests against the Nickel City Sons. 

On Saturday,  the Trappers fell 3-2 to the Sons. Thomas Sefton and Justin Turgeon had the goals. 

On Sunday, the Trappers battled the Sons to a 3-3 draw.  Cooper Brazeau, Justin Turgeon and Justin Rousseau had the goals in the tie.

Minor Bantam 

The Minor Bantam Hopper Buick/GMC AAA Trappers earned a split during a weekend series against the Soo Greyhounds.  

On Saturday, the Trappers opened the scoring but in the second period, the Greyhounds battled back and pulled out a 4-1 win in Powassan.  

Nate Gravelle had the lone goal to open the scoring for the Trappers. 

Mikey Purkhart was perfect in goal for the Trappers in relief of starter Justin Robinson.  

The Trappers turned tables on the Hounds Sunday pulling out a 4-1 win.  Masen Wray, Jesse Lefebvre, Mathieu Turgeon and Anthony Boyes had the goals in the win.  Justin Robinson was solid in goal as he got the victory. 

The Minor Bantams are back on the road this weekend as they travel to Barrie to take part in the Barrie Colts AAA tournament this weekend.  

Minor Peewee

The North Bay & District Minor Peewee AAA Trappers traveled South to the Tom Wilson Classic last weekend.  Starting off the tournament against the Quinte Red Devils, the opposition opened up the scoring taking a 2-0 lead early in the game. Ben Brunton started the Trappers off with a goal from a beautiful pass by teammate Jayson Synnott.  The Red Devils answered back with 7. Cayden Hill potted the second Trappers goal before the third-period buzzer, for a 9-2 final.

Game two found the Trappers facing off against the Ajax-Pickering Raiders.  Ajax opened the scoring, but Cayden Hill bit back quickly to put the Trappers on the board.  Ben Brunton scored another to put the Trappers ahead with an end to end rush.  Mason Fike found the net again for the Trappers before Ajax made a come back sending the game to overtime.  Overtime saw the Trappers fall to Ajax 4-3.

The Trappers up met up with the Toronto Red Wings for game three.  Toronto pulled ahead by eight before Cameron Lockhart scored the lone Trappers goal from linemate Cameron McGeachy. 

The Trappers final contest against the Kanata Blazers started with a goal from the opposition.  Going into the second period down one, The Trappers tied it up with Jason Synnott’s goal from teammate Caleb Moyer's go-ahead pass.   Late in the third, tied at 1, Ben Brunton scored his third of the weekend, giving the Trappers their first win of the season.  

Goaltender Carson Ruddy delivered a stellar performance and collected the win.
