Titans swim team 4th at Regional Championships

Nearly 40 swimmers from the North Bay Titans qualified to swim at the annual Dave Kensit Regional 'A' Championships this past weekend in Sault Ste. Marie.

With points awarded for placings 1 through 8 for final swims, the Titans combined number of points landed the team in a fourth overall standing in the region. Twelve and under aged swimmers swam timed finals and the 13 and over swimmers swam preliminary swims with those finishing in the top 8 swam in finals throughout the weekend.

Those swimmers contributing with first place gold medal performances were Steve Cholette, Renee Gagnon, Dylan Jackson, Grace Liritzis, Brittany Pask, Quinn Schroeder, Noah Swain, and Ryan Tom.

Silver medals were awarded to Keltan Baran, Katelynn Hitchcock, Zeyana Laplante and Megan Tom while Leah Dawson captured a bronze.

Other swimmers contributing to the overall team points total for top eight finishes were Sofia Berardi, Anisha Bhattacharyya, Jacob Brost, Jesse Hives, Sydney Hughes, Chloe Hunt, Caitlyn Jones, Evan Kilroy, Evan Lechlitner, Aliya Marsh, Connor Montgomery, Hailey Passmore, Talia Preston, Katie Tripp, Regine Wyss and Megan Zhou.

Many personal best times were achieved over the weekend as well. Those swimming best times were Melanie Aiton, Aurora Buckley, Olivia Gagnon, Kaytlin Legris, Sheila MacDougall, Savanah Thibeault and Georgia Van Schie.

February will be busy for the Titans as they will be represented in a meet every weekend this month. The 11 and under swimmers head to Sudbury this coming Sunday for Top Fish while Renee Gagnon and Brittany Pask compete at Eastern Canadian Championships in Montreal from February 14th - 17th. The Titans host their annual Invitational meet at the YMCA from the 22nd - 24th and the top level swimmers that have qualified to swim at the Ontario Junior Provincials in Ottawa wrap up the month.
