The North Bay Bulldogs Senior Varsity team was against the SV York Region Lions in a rematch of last week's game where the Dogs put up a 31-0 winning score, controlling all phases of the game.

In the rematch however, the Lions made adjustments that frustrated the Dogs offense early on sending the message that they will have to put out a better effort to beat them this week.

The frustration spread and led to several drive extending penalties on the Bulldogs. The defense held and the Lions took a 3-0 lead on a field goal.

This continued for a full 3 quarters with the Lions leading 12-0 going into the last quarter on the strength of a TD and a second field goal.

The Dogs coaching staff help rally the players to play through this adversity and re-establish the discipline to not commit penalties and execute.

They marched down the field on the strength of receptions by James Piper, capped off by a 25 yd fade to Zach Martel to score.

Defense held off the Lions and mounted a late game drive capped off by a 5 yard run by running back Ryan MCColeman to score the go-ahead TD making the score 13-12.

McGriskin reconnected with Martel on the 2 pt attempt deep in the endzone to make score 15-12.

The Dogs defense did its job and held the Lions off to preserve the win.

In the third game of the triple header was the NFC game between the Bulldogs and the Oakville Longhorns. The Bulldogs started the game strong forcing the Longhorns to punt early and mounted a scoring drive that was called back on a penalty.

At the half the Dogs trailed by 12 and we're moving the ball effectively. The second half, missing a number of players to injuries and other commitments caught up to them as the Longhorns outlasted and we're able to mount 32 points in the last quarter and a half in the 44-0 Bulldogs loss.

Meantime, the North Bay Bantam Bulldogs hosted York Region Lions and our young group battled to a 41-12 loss as the Lions found some success running outside in the secod half. Aiden Dionne scored both TDs for the Bulldogs in the second quarter keeping up with the Lions trailing only 16-12.

And today, the Bulldogs Junior Varsity team is in Clarington to take on the Knight's at 2 p.m.
