The Host CT33 Thunderbirds swim team competed in their third meet of the season. The Paula Palangio Memorial Swim meet, otherwise known as the Northeastern Ontario Region (NEOR) Developmental Meet #3 was held on January 18-19 at Canadian Forces Base (CFB) North Bay attracting a total of 28 seven to 16-year-old swimmers.

The Thunderbirds led all teams with thirty eight first place finishes and were second among all teams with an overall count of seventy-four top three or higher finishes.  Fourteen of the 16 Thunderbirds achieved personal best (PB) times in their races with James Blair, Albert Bouley and Molly Pritchard attaining PB's in all of their events.  These results can be attributed to the great coaching and the team's dedication to training over the course of this season.

The Thunderbirds also had some good success in the team relay events pulling in five first place and three second-place finishes in the eight races that they competed in.

The Team will be continuing to train hard for the upcoming David Kensit Memorial Championship in Sault Ste. Marie hosted by the Sault Surge Aquatic Team from January 31st to February 2.

Officials with the swim team thank the athletes and numerous volunteers that helped make the event possible and such a great success.
