Thunderbirds shine at Sudbury swim meet

Eleven members of the CFB Thunderbirds Swim Club recently competed in the East Side Mario’s Long Course Invitational Swim Meet in Sudbury. The meet attracted 188 swimmers from ten teams in Ontario.

Top swimmers for the T-Birds were 15 year old Jennifer Piper who won gold in 50m Freestyle and 100m Freestyle, silver in 200m Freestyle, 100m Butterfly and 200m Individual Medley, Bronze in 400m Freestyle and a 4th place ribbon in 100m Backstroke as well as one personal best time. Jesse Hives, 9 earned silver medals in 100m Backstroke and 200m Backstroke, Bronze in 100m Butterfly, two 4th places finishes in 200m Individual Medley, 5th in 50m Freestyle, 7th in 100m Freestyle and 5 personal best times. Eleven year old Jamie Lee Udeschini won a Silver medal in 200M Freestyle, Bronze in 200m Breaststroke, three 5th place ribbons in 100m Freestyle, 200m Backstroke and 200m Individual Medley, a 6th in 50m Freestyle and 7 Personal best times. The other top swimmer was Bryanna Penno, 12 who earned a silver medal in 200m Individual Medley and one personal best time.

Other swimmers who did well were Jane Ferguson (11) 2 personal best times; Sierra Guido (11) 2 personal best times; Emma Hives (13) 2- 5th, 7th, 8th; Megan Hives (11) 7th, 8th, 4 personal best times; Jayden Jackson (10) 5th, 6th, 7th, 2-8th, 2 personal best times and Marissa Rodger (11) 1 personal best time.

The Women 11-12 200m Medley A Relay Team placed 5th while the B team placed 7th. The Women 11-12 200m Free A Relay placed 5th.

The Thunderbirds are back in action this weekend at the North Bay Y Titan Invitational Swim Meet in North Bay.
