Thunderbirds impress in Timmins and Nepean

Four members of the CT33 Thunderbird swim team competed at the Fred Rams Championship in Timmins last weekend.

This event was hosted by the Timmins Marlins Swim Club at the Archie Dillon Sportsplex Pool. This Swim Ontario sanctioned event is a ‘B’ Championship event for 14 and under swimmers.

Madilyn Reaume, 12, earned highest points for the team at this event capturing two first place finishes in the 200m Back and 400m Medley events. Albert Bouley, 12, earned a first place finish in the 200m Back.

Isabella Trottier, 10, and Myles Denomme, 12 both earned third place finishes in their 50m Fly events.

Thunderbirds in Nepean

Fifteen CT33 Thunderbirds competed at the Festival of Spring hosted by the Nepean Kanata Barracudas Swim Club at the Nepean Sportsplex last weekend. Age 12 & Under individual events were timed as finals and 13 & over events had preliminaries and finals at this long course event.

Owen Baas,10, placed first in five events and achieved personal best times in all events. Baas also broke 4 club records and improved on two of his previous club records. Jenna Wall, 15, had a first place finish in her 100m Breast event.

Top three placements were captured by Robby Baas, 12, Timothy Corbeil, 13, Samuel Denomme, 15, Fia Diorio, 12, Sheldon Kilroy, 15, Ayden Michaud, 15 and Peyton Paralovos, 13.

Top ten placements were achieved by Sydney Doidge, 14, Emilia Lainevool, 15, Brody Marietti, 15, and Gavin Wall, 13.

Personal best times were recorded for all swimmers with special mention to Grace Hong, 13, and Annika Lainevool, 14.

Thunderbirds continue to train for several regional, provincial and national events in the coming months.
