Thunderbirds impress at local meet

CT33 Thunderbird swimmers recently competed at the North Bay Titans Invitational swim meet on the April 13 and 14th weekend. This event is both a sprint meet and, as well, includes an Ironman component.

Swimmers competing in the Iromman events were Samuel Denomme and Ayden Michaud. In the Sprint events, Isabella Trottier,10, Owen Baas,10, Albert Bouley, 12, Sam Denomme, 15, Ayden Michaud, 15, Gabriel Cadieux, 14, Jesse Hammond, 18, and Jenna Wall, 15, earned High Point Awards in their respective age categories.

Owen Baas, 10, finished first in all eight of his events breaking a twenty year old club record for the 50 metre Free and improving on his own record in two additional events. Gabriel Cadieux, 14, Jesse Hammond, 18, Samuel Denomme, 15, and Ayden Michaud, 15, also placed first in all of their events.

Other swimmers with first place finishes were Robby Baas, Albert Bouley, 12, Fia Diorio, 12, Emilia Lainevool, 15, Cole Paralovos, 17, Peyton Paralovos, 13, Isabella Trottier, 10, Gavin Wall, 13 and Jenna Wall, 15.

Swimmers with top three finishes include Abigail Betsill, 12, Timothy Corbeil, 13, Myles Denomme, 12, Sydney Doidge, 14, Sophie Durocher, 11, Ashley Girard, 18, Grace Hong, 13, Sheldon Kilroy, 15, Annika Lainevool, 14, Brody Marietti, 15, Jillian O’Donnell, 16, Noah Papatheodorou, 15, Jaiden Paralovos, 15 and Madilyn Reaume, 12.

Top ten finishers were Meghan Norman, 15, Ryleigh Paralovos, 11, Katie Sefton, 15 and Madeline Tanner, 17.

Men’s relay teams were awarded six first place finishes while the women’s relay teams captured 6 first place and two second place finishes at the event.

Personal best times were achieved by all swimmers at this event.

Thunderbird swimmers continue to train this week in preparation for the 2019 Ontario Team Challenge April 26 to 28th in Markham, Ontario

North Bay coaches Pierre Simard, Penny Lecour, Hillar Lainevool and Elle George said they were pleased with the results from both meets and the success and growth of all swimmers.
