The Memorial Gardens will be host to the Provincial Women's Hockey League (PWHL) the weekend of September 24th and 25th, where Etobicoke Jr. Dolphins and Aurora Jr. Panthers face off in back-to-back Regular Season games.

The PWHL is a Junior women's hockey league in Ontario that was founded in 2004. It is considered to be the highest level of junior women's amateur hockey in North America, and is sanctioned by both the OWHA and Hockey Canada. The PWHL provides alumni to the CIS, NCAA, as well as the Canada Women's National Hockey team.

This game is a homecoming of sorts for many of the Etobicoke Jr. Dolphins, as the program currently rosters five players with home towns in the North, along with North Bay native & Head Coach Joe Butkevich.

"The opportunity to come back to North Bay and coach at this level is something I am very excited about. I have grown up in the Memorial Gardens, and the ability to stand on the same bench that once was home to Bert Templeton is something I am excited about," stated the former BayToday.ca sports reporter.

"The PWHL continues to be the best feeder league in North America for the NCAA and CIS. Our league is the training grounds for Team Canada hopefuls, as many of our players feed into the U18 & U22 development streams."

There are four teams traveling to North Bay for this weekend of female hockey, as both PWHL teams are also bringing their Midget "AA" sister teams who will square off before the Juniors take to the ice.

Admission is free.
