Temiscaming Titans win weekend games

The GMHL's second place Temiscaming Titans(13-3-0-1) were victorious over the weekend getting two wins. First Friday evening, the Titans paid a visit to the Lumberjacks in Sturgeon Falls and came back home with a 6-4 victory.

First Friday evening, the Titans paid a visit to the Lumberjacks in Sturgeon Falls and came back home with a 6-4 victory.

The Titans dominated the game out shooting the Lumberjacks 49-25 but goaltender Konstantin Shipunov kept his team close the entire game.

The Titans scoring came from Francis Beauregard with 2 goals & 2 assists, Byron Katapaytuk had 2 goals and 1 assists while linemate Marc-Alain Begin chipped in with 4 helpers.

Justin Norris and Ryder Murray had the other markers. Robert Wade with 2 goals, David Szmyd & Ryan Sidon were the goal scorers for Sturgeon Falls. Jonathan Goulet earned the victory.

Saturday evening, the Titans were home to the Toronto Moose and handed them a 13-5 loss.

Again the BBK line (Beauregard, Begin & Katapaytuk) let the attack with 13 points. Begin 1 goal and 4 assists, Beauregard 3 goals & 1 assist, Byron Katapaytuk 1 goal & 3 assists.

Other goals came from Justin Norris and Ryder Murray each with a pair while singles went to Bryn Roberts, Richard Abbott, Drew Moffat and Nicolas Fournier.

Simon Gaudet and Seth Fry shared the duties in goal for the Titans while Matt Kostin and Aleks Smetanins combined their efforts and suffered the loss. Titans outshot the Moose 59-35.

The 3 stars were Beauregard, Begin and Katapaytuk.

Before the game the Titans honoured the local volunteer firemen who bravely fought a fire that affected three local families. The Titans also announced that they had collected donations totalling $3,270.00 over a two-day period and presented these monies to the affected families.
