T-Birds Top 10 at Sudbury Meet

The CT33 Thunderbird Swim Team competed at the Sudbury Laurentian Spring Long Course Invitational this past weekend. This Swim Ontario sanctioned event was held at the Jeno Tihanyi Olympic Gold Pool and was hosted by the Sudbury Laurentian Swim Club.

This competition is an invitational providing competitive long course swimming for swimmers from nine teams from the Northeast region.

Trael Daly Stevens, 15 lead the team with seven first-place finishes, breaking club record with his performance in the 400 metre Free event. Jesse Hammond, 17, placed first is six events with a club record in the 1500m Free which also gave him a record for the 800m Free; a time recorded as part of the 1500m Free event. Evan Kilroy, 16, placed first in five events with a club record in his 50m Breast performance.

Other swimmers with first-place finishes were Riley Periard, 13, Ayden Michaud, 14, Peyton Paralovos, 12, Ryleigh Paralovos, 10, Madilyn Reaume, 11, Gavin Wall, 12 and Jenna Wall, 14.

Top three performances were earned by Timothy Corbeil, 12, Sydney Doidge, 13, Grace Hone, 12, Sheldon Kilroy, 14, Emilia Lainevool, 14, Jillian O’Donnell, 15, Noah Paptheodorou, 14, Cole Paralovos, 16, Jaiden Paralovoss, 14, Drew Sinclair, 14, Madeline Tanner, 16, Isabella Trottier, 9 and Olivia Trottier, 15.

Swimmers with top ten achievements were Abigail Betsill, 11, Sophie Durocher, 10 and Annika Lainevool, 13.

The Thunderbird team continues to train in preparation for the Fred Rams Championships in Timmins May 12-13 and 2018 Ontario Team Challenge to be held in Markham Ontario May 25-27.

North Bay coaches Pierre Simard, Penny Lecour, Ray Picco, Hillar Lainevool and Jennifer Piper said they were pleased with the results from the meet and the success and growth of all swimmers.
