T-Birds Steven wins silver at Team Championships

The CT33 Thunderbirds swim team competed at the Team Championships Division III swim meet hosted by the Whitby Dolphins.

The Swim Ontario sanctioned event was held at the Markham Pan Am Centre Pool drawing thirty-six teams from across Ontario.

Trael Daly Stevens (13) captured two silver medals in the finals for the 100 Metre Freestyle and 100 Metre Butterfly, earning highest points for the team.  Daly Stevens broke three club records in the 100 Fly Short Course, 100 Fly Long Course and 100 Free Long Course.  

Other swimmers earning points for the Thunderbirds with top eight finishes were Michael Denomme, Trael Daly Stevens and Peyton Paralovos who also achieved personal best times in all five of her events.  Top ten finish went to Cole Paralovos.   

Excelling in all of their events were Samuel Denomme, Jesse Hammond, William Hotson, Austin McLaren-Stewart, Abigail Crewson, Melody Farrell, Grace Hong, Ryleigh Paralovos, Riley Periard, Madeline Tanner and Olivia Trottier, shaving significant time off, achieving personal best times.  Other swimmers who achieved personal best times were Myles Denomme, Drew Sinclair, Elle Louise George, Lindsay Greig, Annika Lainevool, Emilia Lainevool, Meghan Norman, Rachelle Ouellette, Jaiden Paralovos and Jillian Picco, with special mention to Abigail Betsill who competed in five events for the first time.  Swimmers achieving strong finishes in all of their events were Timothy Corbeil and Clarice DeBernardi.

The Thunderbirds positioned well in the Relay events.  The Relay team consisting of Rachelle Ouellette, Lindsay Greig, Riley Periard and Jaiden Paralovos captured seventh place in the girls 200 Metre Medley event.  The boys relay team consisting of Cole Paralovos, Drew Sinclair, Sam Denomme and Trael Daly Stevens captured eighth place in the 200 Metre Free event, breaking the club record.

North Bay coaches Pierre Simard, Penny Lecour, Ray Picco, Hillar Lainevool, Jennifer Piper, and Rhianna Bovair said they were pleased with the results from the meet and the success and growth of all swimmers. 

The Thunderbirds were shocked and saddened to hear of the tragic loss of the Temiskaming Northern Loons Swim Team coach, Leonard Lear.  The CT33 Thunderbird Swim Team extends their deepest condolences to the family of Leonard Lear and to all families of the Temiskaming Northern Loons Swim Team.
