Success for North Bay Nordic at Ontario Youth Championships

North Bay Nordic, in partnership with Tourism North Bay, hosted the 2018 Algonquin Pharmasave Ontario Youth Championship February 16-18.
 
The event involved nearly 200 nordic ski competitors aged 7-14 from across the province.
 
Saturday featured the Classic Interval start race and the Fun Relay event. The Freestyle Skate Mass start was held on Sunday.
 
More than 500 people visited the city for this event.
 
Locally North Bay Nordic athletes did well.  Matthew Olajos, finished third in both the Classic and the Skate event for the 2008 Boys. 
 
Jenna Jolliffe also finished in third spot in the Skate and 6th in the Classic 2007 Girls. 
 
Nate Sinclair was sixth in both the Classic and Skate event for 2006 birth year Boys. Sinclair was third in the Fun Relay and won the Skate Technique Award as judged by the Ontario Coaching Development Coordinator.  
 
Isabelle Thomas was ninth in the Classic 2006 Girls and 13th in the Classic.  
 
Harrison Rees was sixth in the Classic 2008 Boys.
 
Special recognition to seven-year-old Cian McDonagh for a great effort in his first major race.

North Bay now looks forward to hosting the 2019 event.
