The North Bay Bulldogs weren't able to score like they did last week against the Sudbury Spartans and the Sault Ste. Marie Steelers put up 27 points as the 4th seeded Soo squad upended the 5th seeded Bulldogs 27-13 in quarter-final action in Sault Ste. Marie Saturday night.

The Bulldogs also ran into penalty problems on Saturday, racking up more than 150 yards in penalties, including 65 on one drive alone that lead to a Steeler touchdown.

The game was fairly close through the first three quarters as the Dogs were down only 13-6 at halftime and 20-13 to start the fourth quarter.

The loss eliminates the Bulldogs and what hurts more about the loss is that if they won they would have hosted a playoff semi-final game next weekend because the sixth seeded Tri-City Outlaws upset the number three seeded Oakville Longhorns 14-12, while the number 7 seeded Toronto Maddogs upset the #2 seeded Oshawa Hawkeyes 21-7 in the other playoff matchup Saturday.

BayToday.ca has also learned the team's defensive co-ordinator Dean Paquette will be taking over the head coaching job next season for the Sudbury Spartans.
