The 34th annual Canada Day road race, sponsored by PT Works, is on tap Thursday morning.
Entry fee is $20 and registration takes place from 8 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. at the start location on Memorial Drive.
Each runner receives a t-shirt and medals will be awarded to the top three finishers in each division. All participants are also eligible for door prizes.
The race starts at 9 a.m. and organizers are Marc Denommee, 497-9099 and Cosmo Ianiro, 493-0080.
All runners are asked to be at the starting point, Marathon Beach, at 8:45 a.m.
There will be a one-lap race of 5 km and another of two laps, 10 km.
Divisions include junior 15-19, senior 20-29, veteran, 30-39; sub master, 40-49; master (1), 50-59 and master (20) 60 and over. The race is open to men and female runners.


Hockey information meeting

The North Bay Athletics of the Northern Ontario Bantam Hockey League are busy for the upcoming season.
The team will hold an information night for all players and parents of players Sunday July 11.
All players born in 1990 or 1991 interested in coming out for the team are asked to attend with their parents or guardians.
The meeting will be held in the upstairs hall at the West Ferris Arena and starts at 7:30 p.m.
The team staff will be there to answer questions about the program and also to discuss details pertaining to the team.

Summer hoops camp at SJ-SH

The third annual summer hoops camp will be held at the St. Joseph-Scollard Hall gymnasium next week.
Youngsters from Grade one to six will be on the court Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until noon and those in Grade seven and up from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Last year’s attracted 105 participants.
The camp is open to boys and girls.


Skyhawks holding hockey school

The North Bay Skyhawks are getting into the hockey school business and their inaugural venture will be held the week of Aug. 23 for players aged six to 13.
