David Frawley scored with just over a minute remaining in regulation time as the Skyhawks came back to defeat the Soo Thunderbirds 6-5 in NOJHL action Friday night.

Adam Cook, Yves Bastien, Dave Shearer, Marc-Andre Rizk, and David Frawley scored for the Skyhawks.

It was a see-saw battle between two of the leagues top teams. The Skyhawks scored three times in the first 5 and a half minutes of the game, chasing Soo starting netminder Michael Maulucci.

With the score 3-2 heading into the second frame, the visitors turned up the heat scoring 3 times in a five minute span around the halfway point of the game to take a 5-3 lead.

But the third period belonged to the homeside as they outplayed the visiting Thunderbirds, scoring the only two goals in the final frame to get the two points.

Head Coach Randy Edmonds liked the outcome but he called Friday's victory an "Ugly Win."

"I guess it's more important the way you finish than the way you start," said head coach Randy Edmonds. "I thought defensively we were really, really struggling which is unlike us."

The Hawks will have to pick up their defensive game Saturday night as they travel North to take on their division rivals the Abitibi Eskimos.

Edmonds believes his team needs to play a typical boring road game to come out on top in Iroquois Falls.

"We need a defense first mentality and we have to wait for our chances," insists Edmonds.
