North Bay Skyhawks and the Northern Michigan Black Bears are playing it close this year in the NOJHL.
The first meeting was 3-2 victory on a third-period come back by the Black Bears. The second meeting was a draw and Friday night proved no different from the clubs two previous meetings. Tight defense, solid goaltending, and hard hitting lead both teams to earning a well-deserved point in a 2-2 draw.

Skyhawks jumped to a one-nothing lead on a tally by Adam Cook of a Josh Merson point shot. Merson would and one of his own with a two-man advantage before the first ended.

“The two nothing is the hardest lead to play with,” said Skyhawks coach Randy Edmonds. “Score that third goal it is basically over, they make it 2-1 and momentum swings their way.”

“Their a tenacious team,” coach Edmonds.

In the second, Michigan’s Justin Dickinson would score on a bad angle shot beating Stuart Fricke on the short side.

Black Bears, Ryan Behnke would score early in the third too complete the comeback and earn his team a point.

Both goalies faced 30 plus shots and looked impressive in goal especially in overtime when both Fricke and Stoehr made key stops to hold on to a point for their club.
