The short-staffed North Bay Minor Midget AAA Trappers came home with gold at the Golden Puck tournament in Waterloo, Ontario over the weekend.
The Trappers edged the Huron-Perth Lakers 2-1 in the tournament final.
After going undefeated in the round robin portion of the tourney, the Trappers edged the Brampton 45’s 3-2 in Sunday morning’s semi-final.
The Trappers played with less than 14 players all weekend and still went unbeaten.
Meantime, the Major Midget AAA Trappers reached the semi-final but fell 5-1 to the Waterloo Wolves.
The Major Midget Trappers won three games at the event including a 9-1 over the Kitchener Jr. Rangers, a 4-1 victory over the rival Kapuskasing Flyers and a 3-0 win over the Quinte Red Devils.
