Playoff action continued on Wednesday night for the North Bay Men’s Senior Baseball League.
In the early game, Don’s Pub and Grill defeated The Miner’s Son 7-2. Blair St-Aubin pitched a complete game, with 6 K's, 5 walks and 2 earned runs. Alain Leonard had the hot stick going 2-2 with a walk. Don’s Pub and Grill got 2 runs in first, while the Miner’s Son came back to tie the game 2-2 after the 3rd. The score remained that way until Don’s Pub and Grill scored 5 in the bottom 4th to take a 7-2 lead. They would not relinquish.
In the late game, the North Bay Midget Stingers upset Assante with a 5-3 in 7 innings. Kurtis Winrow took the tough loss on the mound for Assante, throwing all seven innings and giving up the game winning run when Connor Winrow cashed in with a RBI double. Kyle Backer and Burke Houle pitched for the Stingers and got some stellar defense behind them to hold Assante to 3 runs. Mike Ballagh went 3-4 with a triple and run scored for Assante.
This now sets up two elimination games on Sunday, August 13th at Steve Omischl Sports Complex. Don’s Pub and Grill play Assante at 6:30 p.m. while the North Bay Midget Stingers play The Miner’s Son at 8:45 p.m. The winners of those games will play a quarter-final game on Monday, August 14th at 8:45 p.m. At 6:30 p.m. on Monday,
The Carte Blanche Rotarians take on The Moose Cookhouse with the winner going straight to the finals, and the loser playing in a semi-final game against the winner of Monday’s quarter-final.
