Raiders off to 2-0 start (new)

It’s early, but a pattern is beginning to develop in the Nipissing District Association Senior Girls Basketball League. The Chippewa Raiders picked up their second straight win, defeating Northern Braves 65-13.

The Chippewa Raiders picked up their second straight win, defeating Northern Braves 65-13.

Meanwhile, last year’s finalists, Ecole Secondaire Catholique Algonquin Barons dropped St. Joseph-Scollard Hall Bears 41-26 in their league opener.

Kaely Whillans had 26 points for the Raiders and was named her team’s player of the game. Holy Preweda and Tara Tucker had 19 points each.

April Lloyd had five points for the Braves. Stephanie Renaud was Northern’s player of the game

Tanya Simard with 16 points and Kristine Zwolak with 15 led the Barons, turning in a strong defensive performance. Zwolak was the Barons player of the game.

Lindsey Kapitanchuk had eight points for the Bears and got the nod as the player of the game.

Erin Sallie followed with six points.

In a junior contest, the Raiders defeated the Braves 45-26.

Julie Stinson had nine points and Sam Loreto eight for the Raiders.

Katie Fabbro had eight for the Braves and Breanna Willard collected six.
