Powassan native Lucas Brown continues to have a tremendous rookie campaign in the Trenton Golden Hawks.

Brown and his Golden Hawks teammates finished off a dominant playoff run in the Ontario Junior Hockey League as they defeated the Georgetown Raiders four games to one in the finals to capture the Buckland Cup.

Brown had one goal in the 2-1 series clinching victory for the Hawks.

“Words can't describe the feeling of winning a championship with that group of guys,” the 19-year-old Brown told BayToday.ca.

“It’s by far my best and most memorable moment in hockey so far, hopefully can continue to build off of that heading into the Dudley-Hewitt and possibly making a run for the RBC Cup.”

The former West Ferris Bantam AAA Blades forward recorded 10 goals and 8 assists in 18 playoff games with the Golden Hawks.

Brown and his teammates will now travel North to Kirkland Lake to compete in the Dudley-Hewitt Cup where they will battle for a birth in the RBC Cup championships hosted in Lloydminster, Alberta.

Brown, joined the Golden Hawks from the New York Bobcats of the Eastern Jr Hockey League in the off-season.

Brown netted 12 goals and 17 assists for 29 points in 44 regular season games with the Hawks who are coached by former NHLer Jerome Dupont.
