The North Bay Peewee Stingers travelled to Sudbury Sunday afternoon to meet the Sault Ste. Marie Black Sox in a one game provincial qualifier.
The Stingers came out strong in the bottom of the first punching 4 runs across the plate to take the early lead. With the bases loaded, Owen Wray hit a three run triple and then promptly stole home on a pick off play to third.
The Blacksox didn't get on the board until their half of the 4th where they scored 3 runs to make it 4-3.
They then followed up with a 2 run 5th to take the lead 6-4, but the always powerful Stinger offence would have the last say. The North Bay squad sent 17 batters to the plate in bottom of the sixth scoring 12 runs on 7 hits, enroute to a 16-6 win.
Joe Pavone lead off the inning with a base hit, while Will McCharles, Dallas Landriault, Brett Hummel, Brett Richardson and Wray all had run scoring singles. Richardson and Jordan Kennedy were solid on the mound giving up 6 hits and striking out 8 Black Sox batters.
With the victory the Stingers advance to the OBA Select Provincial Championships in Orangeville on Labour Day Weekend.
