Ray Irwin's Peewee A Ice Boltz girl's hockey team dropped nearly two-and-a-half tons of food onto Tom Hedican's Coach4Food total at their practice.

The girls, with a financial donation by Ray and Jayne Irwin, added 4,921 pounds to this year's drive, propelling it to more than 20 tons at 41,470 pounds for the North Bay Food Bank. Ken Pagan, formerly of The Nugget, even appeared with a bag of groceries to add to the girls' haul.

The Coach4Food staff will continue the drive to fill the shelves of the North Bay Food Bank for one more week. All those organizations or individuals collecting around the city are asked to email their totals to [email protected] no later than Dec 20, to be added into the final tally. As well, any others who wish to make a financial contribution to Coach4Food and the Food Bank are asked to do so by Dec 20th.

Hedican, a professional goaltending consultant, is running practices using NHL and European skill drills for teams which do food drives for the North Bay Food Bank. Coach4Food will wrap up December 20th.
