Lakers women finish weekend with OT win over Gaels

It was not a good Saturday night for both Nipissing Lakers hockey teams but a decent Sunday the women's team. 

The Nipissing Lakers men’s hockey team fell 7-4 to the UQTR Patriotes Saturday on the road to cap off their weekend trip.

Charles Farmer, Parker Bowman, Cole Stewart and Alex De Gagne all scored for the Lakers, while Zach Roy made 32 saves in the game.

Next up, Nipissing heads to Oshawa for a pair of games against Ontario Tech to wrap up the first half of the season.

Lakers women split with Gaels 

The Nipissing Lakers women’s hockey team came up short, falling in overtime tonight to the Queen's Gaels in Kingston by a final of 5-4 on Saturday. 

Katie Chomiak, Maddison Stitt, Lana Duriez and Maggie McKee all scored for the Lakers in the contest.

However, on Sunday afternoon the Dominico sisters led the Lakers to a 4-3 overtime win over the Gaels.

Malory Dominico led the way with two goals while Maria Dominico added a single.  

Malory's second was an ever-important overtime winner. 

Lana Duriez had the other goal in the opening frame with the Lakers down 2-0 to the Gaels.
