CHANGCHUN, China (CP) - For the second straight week, Steve Omischl of North Bay won a silver medal at a freestyle World Cup aerials event.

Omischl, who won silver at a World Cup event last weekend in China picked up 251.42 points in the men's competition, falling just short the 251.64 posted by China's Qiu Sen.

Omischl had to alter his technique in the air to salvage the landing on his second jump and secure his fourth medal of the season.

"I probably wouldn't have been able to do it as well five years ago," said Omischl.

"But coming into the jump I knew it was a little slow. As soon as I saw the ground, I knew I had to break form to get a solid landing."

American Jeret Peterson placed 10th in Saturday's event but still leads the World Cup aerials standings with 560 points. Omischl was in second place overall with 430 and American Ryan St. Onge third with 376.
