The North Bay Novice A Trappers Engraving Shoppe travelled to Powassan this past weekend and walked away with a well deserved silver medal.

Showing continuous improvement all the boys worked very hard to earn a spot in the finals Sunday.

In the tournament opener The Trappers faced the home town Powassan Hawks and both teams battled hard with Trappers Kaedyn Long scoring his first goal of the season, coming out with a 1-0 win. Goaltender Nick Cote was amazing in net stopping key saves that could have ended his shootout with 5 seconds left on the clock in the third.

He shut the door on the Powassan players and Trappers won their first game.

The Trappers took on the North bay Ice Boltz Saturday and with great pressure by the boys they just couldn‘t score.

After a couple shots off the post and some good chances for The Trappers, both teams played hard and the game ended in a 0-0 dead lock.

The next game that day was against West Nipissing Sting, a harder but not impossible task.

The boys came out flying but just couldn’t stop the Sting from scoring.

Ashton Long scored the lone goal for the Trappers and Sting won 5-1.

Once again Trappers faced the West Nipissing Sting in the finals with The Trappers hungry for redemption.

Some penalties put the Trappers shorthanded but that didn’t stop the boys to work even harder.

They came up short but the Trappers were still handed a well deserved silver medal as the final ended 4-0 in favour of the Sting.

Coach Marc Long was extremely proud of the boys, they all gave it 110%.

The heart and determination of these young men has shown when you never to give up and keep working hard.

Other members of the team are Kaedyn Long, Ashton Long, Ryley Wolfe, Max Rivet, Vaughan Thomson, Brandon Barker, Brody Prescott, Keane Koivisto, Caleb Shank, Finley Gould, Leslie Guillemette, Nick Cote, Thom Sefton, Cameron Sutherland, Sebastian Perrault and Landon Boulet. Coaching Staff Marc Long, Eric Thomson and Shawn Shank.

The North Bay Novice A Trappers Engraving Shoppe squads next action takes place in early March when they travel to New Liskeard for the NOHA's.
