North Bay skater receives Skate Canada award

Amber Rioux a member of the North Bay Figure Skating Club is the deserving recipient of a 2005 Skate Canada STARSkate Bursary Award.
Amber Rioux a member of the North Bay Figure Skating Club is the deserving recipient of a 2005 Skate Canada STARSkate Bursary Award. This Bursary award is made possible through the 2001 Vancouver Worlds Legacy Fund and has been granted to several skaters across Canada over the past four years in the STARSkate program. The North Bay Club has had two previous winners of this award.

Amber Rioux was the North Bay Figure Skating Club’s nomination this year for the award based on her determination and commitment to the STARSkate Program. Rioux participates in Freeskating, Skills, in Singles and Team Element events in invitational competitions.

Rioux has been a member of various Synchronized Skating Teams for six years and is also a very dedicated Program Assistant with the club’s CanSkate program. She is a skater who is good role model for other skaters and she enjoys the challenge of continuing to work towards the next level of tests in the STARSkate Program.
