North Bay Selects Soccer Club announced on Thursday the launch of a new Academy Program in partnership with the Nipissing University Lakers.

This will be the club’s first academy centre in North Bay which now aligns them with many other (and larger) soccer clubs in Ontario and Canada.

North Bay Selects Soccer Club and the Nipissing Lakers will work collaboratively together in developing a program pathway that will serve as a catalyst for player development in North Bay and area.  The establishment of the Academy will give local players the opportunity to be educated and trained under the Ontario Soccer Association standards with access to the Lakers coaching staff and resources.  Local youth players and coaches from U10 to U17 will now have access to an elevated training environment and venue with the opportunity to learn more about the North Bay Selects Competitive Soccer Club as well as recruitment potential to Nipissing University’s Men’s and Women’s soccer programs.

As part of this new initiative, the Academy is hosting free clinics for both new and current NBSSC players.  There will be an initial 10 free hours over five evenings of skill development sessions beginning on January 21st from 6pm to 8pm.
