North Bay Antoine Ski Racers host 2nd Annual Home Hardware Classic

The North Bay Antoine Ski Racers hosted the 2nd Annual Home Hardware Classic this past weekend at Antoine Mountain.

The North Bay Antoine Ski Racers hosted the 2nd Annual Home Hardware Classic this past weekend at Antoine Mountain.

About 60 U14-U18 male and female athletes representing teams from across Northern Ontario including Sudbury, Elliot Lake, Timmins, Sault Ste. Marie and Brimacombe from Southern Ontario, enjoyed 2 days of competition that included Slalom on Saturday followed by Giant Slalom on Sunday.

On Saturday Max Hong captured gold in the U14 Slalom with Colin Dreany placing 5th.

Steve Forget picked up a Silver in the U16 category with Alexander Wray placing 5th. 

On the ladies side, Mikayla Cornthwaite picked up a silver medal in the U14 category.

Sunday saw perfect weather conditions and a fast course that produced an exciting race and a return to the podium for the North Bay Antoine Ski Racers. Steve Forget U16, claimed a gold medal and recorded the fastest overall time.

Teammates Hunter Greig U16 placed 5th and Max Hong U14 placed 4th. 

On the ladies side Mikayla Cornthwaite U14 put in a gold medal performance and also posted the fastest women’s time.

Teammates Anton Stencill U14, Lauren Paleczny U14, and Grace Hong U14 put on solid performances over the 2 day event.

For the first race of the year, coaches Mike Whitney and Cam Culbert were very pleased with their Athletes success, and look forward to continuing their training and development.
