Northern Ontario will be well represented by players from the North Bay area in this year’s version of Team NOHA which will participate in the OHL Cup which takes place March 13th to 19th in Toronto.

The North Bay Minor Midget AAA Trappers, which finished on top in the three-team minor midget division of the Great North Midget League, has eight players including goaltender Reece Proulx, defencemen Ben Brunette, Pacey Schleuting, and Cole Goode, along with forwards Jack Stockfish, Jesse Kirkby, Joe Jordan and David Campbell.

Callander’s Ethan Masson, who plays on the Minor Midget AAA Wolves was also selected as part of the 19-player roster.

Team NOHA is coached by former Nipissing Lakers assistant coach Richard Rochefort and the team itself was assembled by Matt Rabideau, who is the Assistant General Manager and Director of Player Development with the North Bay Battalion.

Rabideau and his team evaluated the northern players through a number of events throughout the season including the Under-15 camp in August, the OMHA Eastern AAA Showcase back in December.

The players were also scouted and evaluated during the Great North Midget League season.

Team NOHA will also compete at the OHL Gold Cup in May, which is the first step in Hockey Canada’s Program of Excellence, the Program that concludes with the World Junior Hockey Championship.
