Newton wins gold at Ontario Super Meet

Adam Newton captured a gold medal in the 100 meter junior final Saturday at the Ontario Track and Field Association Super Meet at York University. Newton finished with an impressive time of 10.
Adam Newton captured a gold medal in the 100 meter junior final Saturday at the Ontario Track and Field Association Super Meet at York University.

Newton finished with an impressive time of 10.65 seconds beating out his Pan Am 4 x 100 M relay teammate Gavin Smellie who finished second with a time of 10.74 seconds.

Canadian Jr. gold medalist and Pan Am jr. silver medalist Justyn Warner did not run in the event.

Since last September Newton won the Nike sanctioned “Fastest Kid in Canada” race, this spring he broke his own 100 M NDA track record from a year ago then won gold in the 100 and 200 M’s at NOSSA in Sault Ste. Marie, finished 4th in the 100 M at both OFSAA and the Canadian Junior Nationals along with his silver medal he captured last week when he ran the opening leg for Canada’s jr. 4 x 100 relay team which captured silver at the Pan Am jr. games in Windsor.

Newton will join the Track program at the University of Windsor this fall.
