The sporting world is a strange place and Adam Newton has just found that out…

After being initially fitted with team Canada attire after his 4th place finish in the 100 meter finals last weekend at the Canadian junior nationals in Montreal, Newton was told later on that he may not be on the team…

His coach appeared to make that official on Tuesday when he told Newton he didn’t make the team. He assumed that finishing fourth in the 100 meter final would guarantee him a spot on the 4 x 100 meter relay team.

But Newton now says somehow there’s been a misunderstanding or a change of heart by Canada’s National track and field team and now he will officially wear Canada’s colors at the Pan Am Junior Games taking place in Windsor in two weeks.

He says he even has an outside shot at running individually in the 100 meter event…

"I can't believe it, it's going to be great!" said an excited Adam Newton who's trying to get the good news out to the public.

Great news for the West Ferris sprinter who will join the University of Windsor’s track and field team this fall.
